Description
Set of 12 Casual China green saucers designed by Russel Wright for Iroquois. I am not sure of the official color, but these appear as pea green / chartreuse. Each plate is about 6 inches in diameter. These are marked on the base as shown. Very good condition with no chips or cracks.
Russel Wright designed dinnerwares in modern shapes for many companies. Iroquois China Company, Harker China Company, Steubenville Pottery, and Justin Tharaud and Sons made dishes marked Russel Wright. The Steubenville wares, first made in 1938, are the most common today. Wright was a designer of domestic and industrial wares, including furniture, aluminum, radios, interiors, and glassware. The Iroquois China Company was started in Syracuse, NY in 1905. The company continued in business until 1969. Most collectable are the "Casual China" designed by Russel Wright and the "Impromptu" and "Informal" lines designed by Ben Seibel. I have pieces from three of the Iroquois patterns.
