Vintage Japanese Ivory Netsuke - Travelling Man

Vintage Japanese Netsuke of a Travelling monk.

This is hand carved, made of ivory. It is vintage - early 20th century - but I am unsure of the exact date. It is signed and about two inches high.

In very good condition, made certainly by a master craftsman. Signed on the base.

Netsuke tiny sculptures used to secure pouches to the kimono have long been an obsession for collectors in both East and West. They depict a variety of figures, both domestic and exotic, from marketplace tradesmen to otherworldly beings to perfectly rendered animals.
