Antique Chinese jade ornament. This is circa 6th century - which is, I believe the Sui dynasty or the Southern / Northern Dynasties Period.
This important, museum quality piece, is in the form of a bell is made of Han jade. It has a rich color and Ancient motif. It is carved all the way around (the discoloration on the sides is actually aged jade, not damage). The bottom has a slight groove.
There is a hole at the top and presumably it would have been hung upon the desk.
Measures about 3 inches by 4 inches and 3/4 inch thick. It is a heavy piece weighing 12.8 ounces.
