Original signed watercolor by Jan Korthals (1916-1972) of a Dutch Village on a canal. Signed lower left; titled lower right.
Beautiful typical Korthals scene depicting the architure and colors of a city scene with great warmth. Image measures about 12 3/4 inches by 16 1/2 inches. Framed it measures about 19 by 23 inches. Artwork and frame are in very good condition; Matting has some discoloration.
Jan Korthals ( 1916 - 1972 ) was a Dutch painter from Amsterdam who worked in the impressionist style. Korthals was strongly influenced by Breitner and Mackenzie.
The latter was also Korthals' uncle and provided great support for Korthals

Most of Korthals work was of citscapes in Amsterdam and Paris. He was also an illustrator.
